New website

March 3, 2010

Hey Folks

we have our new website up and running now. You can find it at www.mitchellmuseum.co.uk

We wanted to get www.mitchellmuseum.com, but we are still at war with the Native American Indian museum in Illinios over this. But at least we have managed to win out in our skirmish with the Mitchell Fishing Reel museum though. One battle at a time.

But in respect to our fallen mitchell brothers please admire the beautiful craftsmanship the goes into the mitchell reel.

Yeah,  so we probably won’t be posting much up here anymore. But if you do want to follow our blog, the new home will be at www.mitchellmuseum.co.uk

Things about Dougie on Sweeping the nation

February 17, 2010

Have you ever wondered what music Dougie likes?  Dougie really likes Shaggy. If you’d like to find out about more things that Dougie likes… and has done, then a good place to go for that kind of information would be here…

http://sweepingthenation.blogspot.com/

Kris, Raindeer and cammy reveal some informations too….but I think you’ll agree the information that Dougie reveals is best.

Vic Galloway played us on his Radio One introducing show last week. Here it is

February 10, 2010

It spring cleaning time in our house….only we’re not going to clean anything…we’re going to take all the old versions of our songs off our myspace player and put new versions and new songs up in their place. Go and have a listen right now.

NEW SONGS ON PLAYER

These are from our new album called ‘The Peters Port Memorial Service’ which will be out sometime soon in 2010.

Don’t worry though! We’ve decided to put a bunch of the old stuff on a little 6 track EP called “We lost 1st prize”.

The good news  is its free! You can get it here.

No sleep till brooklyn

February 4, 2010

Ok, so the winter months are taking it’s toll on all of us. I see shivering, chapped and miserable people every time I look out the window. So I have decided to close the curtains. Problem solved.

The unfortunate ramifications of this are the lack of sunlight is now total and I no longer have any means of regulating the days as the only clock we have doesn’t work (It sits at 8pm continuously, but oddly never 8am?) .

And like small animals and birds during the eclipse the natural order becomes disrupted and bedtime is daytime, dark becomes light and Immac becomes Veet.

So to combat the disorientation and to fill the night time I have made you a mixtape. I hope you like it. You can listen to it or download it and listen to it on the bus. It is about the length of a trip to anywhere within the central belt of Scotland.

In Huw Music We Trust

January 29, 2010

Just a quick note to say that not only Huw Stephens Hot Tipped us as track of the now (or something to that effect) he has also gone and inflicted it upon Various other Introducing shows on the BBC. (BBC Gloucester, BBC Alba, BBC Nostromo etc)

So if your regional variation starts playing our stuff and you like it then he is the one to blame, we had no idea.

But thanks to Huw again and we’ll be going down to record a session at Maida Vale Studios at the start of March for his show. So we are all working hard to get our new set together with our new tunes, gear and haircuts. This year we are mostly going for heavy junkpop, akai samplers and side partings.

WE SALUTE HUW

A New Hope

January 22, 2010

Hey folks that take an interest in mitchell museum goings on we have some more new developments.

Our new manager has made us a promo video for the new album which we just finished.  It can be found all over the web i’m told.  So if you want to see some of our recording techniques, in depth musical analysis and serious soul searching for the origins of music and it’s meaning then look no further.

Huw Stephens Show

January 21, 2010

For those that missed it (shame on you) Huw Stephens played our new and shiny version of Warning Bells on the Radio 1 last night.

It was one of the first times I have randomly heard our music being played on the radio and it was just like that scene in that thing you do where they run into the same room with little transistor radios screaming, except we all had laptops that were streaming the show live and it was glitching a lot due to bandwidth restrictions. And Cammy was in the bath playing Tetris.  How he picks up Radio one on a Gameboy I have no idea.

But it was quite exciting overall. If you want to run about screaming and then have Tom Hanks fufill your dreams only to take them away from you again then go to

Thank you Huw…  Thuw.

Graduation Day Part 1

January 6, 2010

Thanks to sweeping the nation’s blog for putting up some kind words about us on their class of 2010 section. We always appreciate anything nice that folks have to say about us or our music.

Check it out here:

Not to complain, but the video that is up is actually a live video of  ’Novels and diaries’ in George Square. By god it was cold that night. The actual video for ‘take the tongue out’ is here:

PODCart xmas

December 19, 2009

Hello folks,

How you enjoying to snow? What snow? I know. No snow. Poor show. But on the other hand here is a good show filled with mince pies and hoofs.

We played the Trampoline All day show last weekend and had a grand old time with everyone there. I’m afraid I missed Conquering animal sound, but everyone else said they were very good, so hopefully next time. But amongst the proceedings the Glasgow Podcart peoples were there making up their new podcast, doing some interviews and we had a nice chat. As usual I don’t think we answered any questions with the correct answers and failed the test. But we had fun with them anyway.

So have a listen, not just for us but also for The Last Battle, Conquering animal sound, Jonnie Common, Debutant, Esperi, Lyons, The Scottish Enlightenment, Foxgang and The Action Group.

Baby it’s cold outside

December 18, 2009

Hi, my name is raindeer, I am the one who hits the stuff in the band. I’ve not used this thing before, I usually shy away from such things because I get a headache. I get headaches easily. Diet Coke gives me headaches. I really like coke and there is nothing more dissappointing than when someone gives you (me) a coke and it is a diet one. So I thought I should give this blogging thing a go, does this count as a blog? i’m not sure. I dont think I have very much that is interesting to say. People who blog I think often dont, maybe I’m wrong, but look, I’m dong it.
Things of interest
We got back the mastered version of our album. I listened to it very loudly yesterday. It sounds really good. I think that people will really like it too when they eventually get to hear it. I’m not sure when that will be tho. Sometime in 2010. Yes it is nice.
Im going to stop writing now because I need to go meet my brother Cammy who does all the singing in the band. We are doing Christmas shopping. Its really cold outside so i will wear my hat.
Kris is somewhere far away and i miss him
dougie is in his room
coach is out in the wild being a wild thing
it was nice meeting you
lots of love raindeer.
